3.7 FMT file: Format Settings for displaying Telegrams


 

The required display format of telegrams can be set simply and clearly in the format window. The format settings are valid for the telegram output on screen of selected TDB buffers, output during recording or simulation and for the output of the recorded data in the archive file. The format can be defined for each channel separately.


Format settings for telegram output

 

 

Channel 1 ... 12

Set the display format for this particular channel.

 

 

Display window

Normally receive telegrams are displayed in the display window of the corresponding receive channel, e.g. receive telegrams of channel 1 are always displayed in the window ( RCVview ) of channel 1 and receive telegrams of channel 2 always in the window ( RCVview ) of channel 2 etc.

But for recording it may be suitable when control- and monitoring direction are displayed chronologically in one window. With this parameter the output of one channel can be redirected into the display window of another channel.

Monitoring sample :
Control direction       over COM 1 on channel 1 - Setting display window "channel 1"
Monitoring direction over COM 2 on channel 2 - Setting display window "channel 1"
In this way both directions can be displayed chronologically in one window ( RCVview ).

 

 

Status header

If yes, the colored ( green or yellow ) header line with channel number, sent or receipt time or the number of the transmitted TDB buffer is displayed.

hexadecimal

Display received data or selected TDB buffers in hexadecimal format.

decimal

Display received data or selected TDB buffers in decimal format.

ASCII

Display received data or selected TDB buffers in ASCII format.

binary

Display received data or selected TDB buffers in binary format. Additionally can be selected between LSB and MSB.

no Binary format is suppressed
LSB Binary format of data ( LSB first )
MSB Binary format of data ( MSB first )
Errors

Display occurred errors in the following format :

no The output of faulty data will be suppressed.
hexadecimal Displays the faulty data hexadecimal.
decimal Displays the faulty data decimal.
ASCII Displays the faulty data as ASCII characters
binary LSB Displays the faulty data binary ( LSB first )
binary MSB Displays the faulty data binary ( MSB first )
Plain text

Details to the output format of the plaintext you will find in the description of the individual protocols.

no The telegram is not displayed in a plain text format.
format 1 Link layer + data unit identifier + information objects/ elements
format 2 Data unit identifier + information objects/ elements
format 3 Information ( displays the information objects/ elements only )
format 4 Link layer
format 5 Link layer + data unit identifier ( no information objects/ elements )

 

 

The following settings are only relevant for network capture :

 

Ethernet header

If yes, the ethernet header will be displayed during network capture.

IP header

If yes, the IP header will be displayed during network capture.

TCP/ UDP header

If yes, the TCP header will be displayed during network capture.

 

 


Each alteration in the format settings is displayed by an asterisk * in the caption title and will be only effective after saving.
