1.4 Hardware Expansions for Program LIAN 98

Two channel expansion module ( ISA bus )

EX-4031A
2 x serial RS232

Normally personal computers only have two serial interfaces, COM1 and COM2. The two-channel expansion module supplied with the program provides the additional interfaces COM3 and COM4 which are necessary for optimal use of the program. This module is a 16-bit serial card with FIFO 16C550 Ports, which occupies the AT-interrupts 10 and 11 with the two additional interfaces COM3 and COM4. The AT interrupts must therefore not be used for any other purpose.

Two channel expansion module ( PCI bus )

EX-41052
2 x serial RS232

Normally personal computers only have two serial interfaces, COM1 and COM2. The two-channel expansion module supplied with the program provides the additional interfaces COM3 and COM4 which are necessary for optimal use of the program. This module is a PCI bus serial card with FIFO 16C550 Ports.

USB to 4 x serial RS-232 Ports

EX-1334V module - USB 1.1 to 4 serial RS-232 interfaces utilizes FIFO 16C550 ports.

Normally modern notebooks are without serial interfaces. With the EX-1334V it is possible to equip notebook or PC with four additional COM ports. This USB to serial module supports Hot Plug & Play and will be automatically recognized by the operation systems Windows 98se, 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7.

USB to 2 x serial RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 Ports

EX-1334V module - USB 2.0 to 2 serial RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 interfaces utilizes FIFO 16C550 ports.

Normally modern notebooks are without serial interfaces. The EX-1333V USB 2.0 to serial RS-232/422/485, provides the notebook with two high performance 16C550-type UART compatible RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 serial ports. This module, USB to serial supports Hot Plug & Play and will be automatically recognized by the operation systems Windows 98se, 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Cables and Adapters

Monitor cable

DB9 socket -> DB25 plug,  ca. 2 meters DB9 socket -> DB9 plug,  ca. 3 meters

The monitor cable provides the connection between the PC and the adapter top parts towards the test object. Maybe connection is made directly to the modem or the diagnostics socket of the test component.

RTG adapter

With the RTG adapter ( Cannon plug ) the monitoring cable can be connected to the test object via RTG sockets.

During the simulation ( with transmission ) please note the markings on the RTG cables

Marking on the RTG connectors

green plug ( transmit )  = Transmitter of the PC
yellow plug ( receive )  = Receiver of the PC

HK adapter

With the HK-adapter the monitor cable can be connected with the test object via clips ( Hirschmann )

green plug ( transmit )  = Transmitter of the PC
yellow plug ( receive )  = Receiver of the PC
black plug  ( ground )

Network cable

Cat 5E Patch cable, free of halogen.

. Brand-Rex cable
. 200 MHz
. S-FTP cable, 4x2 AWG 26/7
. protected with laminated PE sheet and tinned Cu weave
. two RJ45 Stewart plugs

Assignment 1 : 1 suitable for the connection from the PC to a switch.

Dongle for LPT interface

The dongle is a software license protection device and is thus essential for proper operation of the LIAN program package.

! ! !  The dongle is the license of your software, please take care of it  ! ! !

The supplied WIBU-BOX/P is a small adapter with 25-pin plug and 25-pin socket that must be fitted to the LPT1 printer interface on your PC. The arrow at the dongle box shows in direction to the PC. Fix it with the two bolts. Connect the printer cable at the other side. The printer interface can still be used as before.

Dongle for USB interface

The dongle is a software license protection device and is thus essential for proper operation of the LIAN program package.

! ! !  The dongle is the license of your software, please take care of it  ! ! !

The supplied WIBU-BOX/U must be fitted to the USB-Port of your PC. This USB port is occupied with the dongle and cannot be used for any other device. Usually PC's have several USB-Ports.

Before connecting the USB dongle it is absolutely necessary to install the WIBU-KEY drivers because the WIBU-BOX/U is indicated and installed as an original device by your system.
